It's a boy!

Well...this came as quite a surprise! On Friday October 12, 2013 (15w1d) Tyler and I were at the car dealership looking to trade in the Fusion. I excused myself to the bathroom for only about the eighth time that day, lol. I went pee as usual but this time I noticed blood in the toilet. I freaked out and walked out to the showroom and told Tyler. I called my OB on call and was told that he/she would call me back but they never did. I didn't waste any time at all and we went straight to the E.R. After checking in, they didn't even have me sit in the waiting room. They took me to a room and did my vitals. Then they led me to a room where they performed an ultrasound. Thankfully, baby was just fine. Baby was sucking its thumb, rubbing its little face, and even had the hiccups. Heart beat was at 134bpm and everything looked great! I wasn't supposed to find out the gender until November 1st, but Tyler immediately burst out and said, "Can you see what it is?" The little pumpkin had its legs crossed so the lady performing the ultrasound had me roll over on my side. After I did that, baby uncrossed its legs and there, plain as day, was a little wee-wee. LOL! After 4 hours of sitting and waiting, the doctor concluded that it was either a cyst on my uterus that popped OR that it could have been hemorrhaging from where the placenta connects to the uterus. Either way, he said that it was nothing to worry about and that everything was fine!

So now, come April 4, 2013, we will be welcoming baby Mark Tyler Korell, Jr!

Second Trimester!

It's been a while since I updated this thing. Lots of things have happened since my last post! First of all, I can finally announce that I am into my SECOND TRIMESTER! YAY! What's funny to me is that the first trimester is supposed to be the time where you pee often. I beg to differ! Now that I am into my second trimester, I am peeing now more than ever! I think the baby has made a bed with a pillow directly on top of my bladder ;)

Where do I begin?!

On September 22, 2012 I worked a double. I got off work at around 10:00pm and Tyler told me that he was picking me up from my house when I got home. He came by and scooped me up and told me that he was taking me somewhere. Somewhere...at 10:00 at night. Oooookay? We were driving for about an hour when I got impatient and asked where the heck we were going. He told me it was a surprise. I had no idea what could be so surprising that late at night after I had worked a long day! I was tired and cranky, lol. We finally got to our destination a whole hour and a half later. He parked the car and asked me if I knew where we were. Well duh...it was the same place where he had asked me to be his girlfriend and the same place where he first kissed me! He asked me to get out of the car, so I did. Then he asked me to close my eyes. When I opened them, I was SO SO SO SO SHOCKED to see that he was proposing! EEEEEEEK! Totally unexpected! I can honestly say that I never saw that coming. I am SO HAPPY!!!

More good news came just a few days later. I had my second appointment on September 26, 2012. Was a very quick and easy appointment! Got to hear baby's heartbeat with the doppler. The doctor never told me what the heart rate was, but it sounded lovely. (Wasn't a big fan of him. He seemed very rushed and kind of rude). Before I left, I scheduled my anatomy scan for November 1, 2012 at 6:00pm! This time, we'll be able to tell if it's a boy or girl! YAY! I can't WAIT! I don't have any intuition anymore. At first I thought it was a girl but then I had a dream it was a boy. So now I am really clueless. I don't care what the little blessing is, as long as he/she is healthy. I have my next checkup on October 24, 2012. I assume they'll just listen to the heart beat again. That's quite alright with me because a week later, I'll know if we're having a little price or a little princess!

1st Ultrasound!

I had my first ultrasound on September 4, 2012. However, it was not a planned ultrasound! My original appointment was set for September 19, 2012 but on September 1st, I was in a car accident. Nothing serious! I was on my way home to visit my family when someone rear ended me. Luckily, I wasn't injured and my car didn't have much damage either. Of course with this being my first pregnancy, I just wanted to make sure that my little bean was okay! I was able to drive myself to the E.R for what I HOPED would be a good visit. What a mistake! I was in and out of there within 25 minutes. The nurse did absolutely nothing to ensure that my baby was okay. No ultrasound, no testing, no nothing at all. All she did was have me lay down and pressed around on my stomach. Then she encouraged me to take Tylenol and that was it. All in a matter of maybe 15 minutes. What a waste. Of course I was angry, so I called the OB on call from my doctor's office. I was able to get an appointment for that Tuesday. I was not expecting to get an ultrasound though! I just wanted to at least hear the heart beat to make sure the little one was doing alright. To my surprise, she gave me an ultrasound AND let me hear the heartbeat. Little bean was waving its hands and wiggling its tiny fingers. It was so crazy to see such a tiny little human moving around in there. It's little heart was beating at 164bpm. It was such a beautiful sound. Of course I cried, being the big emotional baby that I am. Tyler was there with me the whole time and was so excited. I was 9 weeks, 5 days at the time of the ultrasound. Baby looked 100% okay and I am so THANKFUL that everything is alright in there!

8 weeks & first doctor's appointment!

Yesterday, August 22, 2012 was my first doctor's appointment. Although it wasn't a very exciting visit, I figured I would document it anyway. My appointment was at 8:45am. Tyler went with me. The nurse asked for a urine sample, took my blood pressure, and did my height and weight. As of now, I weigh 120lbs. After that, she asked a lot of questions about our medical history. She gave me some educational packets and prescribed me some prenatal vitamins, even though I had already been taking some that I purchased a while ago. After that came my biggest fear - getting my blood drawn. I've always been so squeamish about needles and blood and all that yuckiness. I told her it would be best if I laid down while getting it taken because I do have the tendency to get a little light headed and I may or may not pass out on her, lol. However, it was a struggle. The nurse tried multiple times to get some blood but my veins were not cooperative. Apparently I had not drank enough water and my veins were not visible. So now I have to go back and relive all of that on Monday afternoon. NOT EXCITED. Before I left, the lady at the counter scheduled my next appointment for September 19, 2012. I'll have my first ultrasound that day! SO SO SO EXCITED! I hope I can contain myself from now until then, lol.

On a final note, I am 2 months pregnant today AND it's my 23rd birthday. YAY! :)

Confirmed!

I had an appointment for 7:30 this morning to obtain a "Proof of Pregnancy". Where I live, doctors require you to bring a proof of pregnancy before they'll schedule your first doctors appointment. Kind of a hassle, but it was over and done with within 30 minutes. The lady gave me a list of doctors to choose from, offered me some information on birthing and breastfeeding classes they offer here at the nearest hospital, and calculated my expected due date based on my last menstrual period. She estimated my due date to be April 6, 2013! Just three days after my younger sister's birthday :)

After getting my proof of pregnancy paperwork, I went ahead and scheduled my first OB/GYN appointment for next Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 8:45am. The day before my birthday! What a nice gift, lol. I'm positive no ultrasound will be done. I'm quite sure they just do my medical history and do some blood work. Nothing too exciting! After I'm done they'll schedule me right away for my next check up. Guess we will see what happens!!

7 weeks

Don't be fooled! That's no baby bump quite yet. That's nothing but pure, magnificent, bloat. When I wake up in the morning, my tummy is usually quite flat but by mid afternoon or after I've had something to eat, my stomach swells up and looks like this. Flattering, right? Not so much!

Well this was unexpected!

Unexpected isn't even the word! I ran out and bought a three pack of HPT's the day after aunt flow didn't make an appearance. Although I was experiencing menstrual-like cramping, something didn't feel right and I couldn't put my finger on it. Aunt flow was due to arrive on July 28, 2012 but didn't show. On July 29, 2012 at around noon, I sat on the porcelain throne and braced myself for the results. I laid the test on the counter next to me and not even 10 seconds later I was presented with two very distinct pink lines. I waited a few hours and took another one because I couldn't believe it. Again - same results. Two days later I took the last remaining test in the box in the middle of the day and once again I had the same results.

I AM PREGNANT!

I did some calculations of when I had my last period and learned that I was 4 weeks pregnant at the time of the test :)
